TreadQuarters rates an "F"

Post by KlubMarcus »

I've been hiring a local TreadQuarters for a few years to work on my 1998 V70 XC. They do OK work, cheaper than the dealer and they are open on weekends. But they can't tackle the tougher jobs. They tried to replace my Nivomat shocks, failed after ordering 3 sets. Could not get the right parts. They tried to fix my e-brake, failed after unknown number of tries. Did not replace the cables, just shoes and pads. The biggest loss in all this was my precious time, 3 weeks from initial visit with my car going in and out. Now we're in the middle of figuring out how big my refund will because they used aftermarket e-brake shoes that are supposed to be compatible. The manager said that they are at the mercy of their parts suppliers. Well gee, that's not supposed to be my problem!

Lesson learned, DIY or use an independent shop that services Volvos. I looked up TreadQuarters and they are rated "F" on the BBB as part of the: Autotire, Monroe Muffler, Pro Auto, Tread Quarters, Discount Tires, Speedy Auto Service By Monro, Tire Warehouse Mr. Tire, inc.

Here's a follow-up on the TreadQuarters fiasco. They gave me a partial refund to cover the extra cost charged by Barry's Performance Imports to get my e-brake working properly. BPI told me that they didn't charge me the labor as a favor since my car was already in for other work. TreadQuarters cross-referenced the part number and their aftermarket part "should" work. I would've preferred a full refund, but my e-brake works and my extra out-of-pocket cost was covered. But I am definitely not going to a TreadQuarters or affiliated shop again!
