So, after we JUST had the Camry's bumper fixed 2 months or so ago from being rear-ended (some of you may remember that), my girlfriend comes out to it the next morning to find scratches ALL over it - hood, both sides, and trunk, and a tire slashed enough that I'm afraid the tire may blow out if it's driven.

I don't have any idea why her car was targeted like that - she doesn't really have any enemies, and is the sweetest girl I've ever met to everyone she knows.

All we can figure is that some tenants in the rental property she works for targeted her car because they were evicted or something of the sort - even though she has no control over any of that. Basically, it's a low-income area with a lot of shady people.

A police report is filed, but unfortunately she has no suspects, there are no security cameras on the property (they would just be destroyed), and no one has come forward with information.

My wife got in an argument with our neighbors a couple years ago. The next morning my 2001S60 was keyed with the word "asshole" in the side. It was done very weakly and I polished it out with compound in five minutes. A didn't even say anything. A week later I saw the same thing on my daughter's 850. Not sure if it was done the same time or afterward. It was so faint it was wimpy. I polished hers out and we called the police. They didn't accuse the nieghbor but did "ask" them if their car was targeted too. Strangely things have calmed down and, two years later, there is a tolerable peace on our street. And its an upper middle class suburb so bad things happen everywhere I guess.

Wow. If that had been my dad and his neighbor, he would have walked over to their house with a shotgun (it happened before when the kid up the street threw a brick through his window). Wasn't loaded, but their kid fessed up real quick ;)

Unfortunately, this isn't going to polish out - it's straight down to the primer and probably done with a knife.

She's keeping her cool about it and just trying to handle everything without stressing about it - although I know she's furious on the inside.

Hate to here AGAIN about your troubles with the car that collects bad CARma.
I was away camping at Mt. Mitchell, no phones or anything for three days and come home to all the killing and meanness going on, I agree, I don't care for most of the people I'm around and try to limit it to as few as possible.
Your right, the marks look deep and is going to take more than a buffer to fix.

Mean is a Way-of-Life for many. I see it everyday, from a child's playground to bleachers to workplace. Avoidance is best for sane, it sucks the joy of life off of you. It is a poision that harms both, self and the other. Move away, turn your back to it.
