VolvoCountryParts.com: new pricing formula = save more

Post by matthew1 »

Up, Not Down

MVS partner VolvoCountryParts.com is offering deeper discounts after switching the way they price parts. They were coming down from list, now they're going up from cost. I haven't had a chance to do any price comparisons yet, but I will next time I shop.

I Don't Get Special Treatment *sniff*

BTW, I don't get discounts or freebies from any of the MVS advertisers. MVS advertisers and I have a contract that pays MVS, naturally, but for parts for my Volvo I get the exact same prices as you do. So when these deals are new, or good, or I can save $20, I want to let you know so you can save $ too.

Buying Power

VolvoCountryParts is the online parts operation of a large group of Volvo dealers, one of the biggest in the US in fact. It gives them a strong hand when they buy parts... which brings us back around to the point that it's very interesting that they're going up from their cost. On the larger ticket items -- in theory -- we could save a bunch of dough.

But How's the Service?

They're really trying hard to bust into the online parts world, so I'd be shocked if they didn't go pretty far with the customer service. I haven't bought from them yet to give you a firsthand account -- they're new on MVS -- but they're next. (Just got a load of stuff yesterday... lowering springs, Samco hose kit... more on that later.)

Anybody attempting to sell car parts on the net that does not use a cost + pricing is doomed due to the competition. I am surprised that this is still news to some. TASCA pricing is unreal and tough to beat.

It's news to me, and I'm peripherally involved. To be honest, I don't go looking or asking around as to which parts houses do what with their pricing.
