1995' Volvo 850 turbo wagon. What size wheel/bolt pattern/offset would I need to fit my car, w/o needing to add spacers etc... Can I go up to 17"?
Thanks

Take off and look on the back side of one of your OEM factory wheels, you will see the following numbers cast into the metal...

5-108-43

850 GLT - 195/65/R15 on 15x6.5 with 5x108mm bolt pattern with 43mm offset
850 Turbo - 205/55/R16 on 16x6.5 with 5x108mm bolt pattern with 43mm offset
850 R - 205/45/R17 on 17x7 with 5x108mm bolt pattern with 43mm offset

Same bolt pattern as most Ford and Lincoln/Mercury wheels, however, Ford 38mm offset will make wheels stick out like a pair of rollerskates.

It is nearly impossible to find an 43mm offset wheel, most folks just go with another style of OEM wheel...

I would also recommend th www.tirerack.com Just click on the wheel section, enter your car and you'll get a whole list of applicable wheels in all sizes. Trouble with going with a bigger wheel is that to compensate (so you don't get any rub, etc.) you have to go with a lower profile tire. Depending on your road conditions where you live, this can translate into bent rims if you go to low. Anyway, give tirerack a try...I've only bought tires from them in the last 8 years...never a local tire store.

17" works just fine, especially with stock suspension. I'm running 215/45/17's on a +38 offset wheel right now and a very un-stock suspension with no rubbing problems.
