Good news, bad news.
s80's are the thorn in my side when it comes to ABS issues.
The good news is that the speedo goes out. Why? The s80 is going to have one of two different STC/ABS modules on it. One is a 8619538 and the pins never crack on those. They don't fail that much, and when you get just the ABS warning with one of those it usually isn't the module. Usually a cem or voltage problem.
IF the speedo goes out it's typically one of the other STC modules in the same family, and the part number will start with a 9. Those are the ones that fail with the cracked pins. Not really what you want, but if you're going to have a module problem with an s80 it actually is what you want.
My rule of thumb...if the module # starts with an 8 I test it and scan it when it comes in. Most of the time (97%) it has the same pump motor code, I clear it and drive around with no problems and no return of the codes. It MAY have another wheel sensor code also, but if it does it's usually a legit code. I usually send it back and give them their money back along with any codes that I find.
If it starts with a 9, that's money in the bank. I'll still test and scan it, but it's a given that there's damage inside...and there always is.
