please - Advice on Multiple diagnostic codes

Post by PierreC »

My 2007 S60 2.5T recently gave a "Power System Service Urgent" message (combined with a red engine warning triangle as well as the battery light) but this disappeared the next time the engine was started. A day later it gave the "Engine System Service Required" message (with the yellow engine warning triangle).

I took it to my dealer for a diagnostic (VIDA) code readout and the following codes showed as intermittent:

BCM-0109 Communication between control units - Communication problems with SAS, internal fault
CEM-1C05 30-power supply Signal too low
ECM-614B Exhaust camshaft control - faulty
ECM-6200 Engine cooling fan control module- Faulty signal
SAS-000E Steering wheel angle sensor internal fault

OK it is quite unlikely that all these things failed or are in the process of failing simultaneously.

The fault codes were reset and the car has been running perfectly for two days now without any further messages.

Any ideas what could be causing these intermittent "faults"?

My thinking is that it is something common, such as ...
(a) low power - battery or alternator (i.e. heeding the ORIGINAL message!)
(b) the diagnostic computer (i.e. the module that collects all signals from the other components and communicate with VIDA)
(c) the connection (i.e. cable, connectors?) to the diagnostic computer.

These however are ramblings of a non-technical person!!

PS The car was serviced 3.500 miles ago ... even according to the dealer's service manager it is most unlikely that there will be a problem with the camshaft control as this (in his experience) only occurs when the oil is very old and/or the engine is clogged up. The car has only done about 77.000 miles and had been run on full synthetic oil since new so the engine is unlikely to be clogged up.

Thanks
Pierre

I know it's been quite a while but I was curious what was the outcome to get this corrected?
