2001 S40 1.9T Dipstick Blown Out. PCV?

Post by rhlee222 »

Hi everyone,
Every time I look under the hood of this car I notice that the dipstick is blown out slightly. This is probably the PCV system, correct? If so, how difficult id this to repair on my 2001 S40?
Thanks,
Rick

Yep, it's the PCV system.

The system should be very similar to the 5 cylinder setup as the engines are practically cousins. You can find the repair in the "links to major repairs" section of the 850 part of the site.

If I still had VADIS, I'd send you a copy of the Volvo PCV instructions, but maybe someone would be generous enough to post that up for you.

Thanks for the info. The repair mentions a PVC repair kit. Does Volvo sell the parts as a kit? There are around $500 worth of parts listed under crankcase ventilation eom parts. What is VADIS?

FCP Euro and IPD USA (they are sponsors of the site; should be able to find their banners around) sell PCV kits for the car with everything you'll need.
