S70 Double Fuel Consumption + Rough ??

Hi,
My mpg fule economy has doubled in the last week plus a noticible loss of power. Today, it stareted running rough + super high fuel consumption (45 mile trip=6 Gallons) + loss of power. Yet there is no code. Any ideas?

What have you checked? The 1st thing I would look at would be plugs. Check to see if all are firing. A good indication that they are not would be that they are wet or black.

What year? (Later models went to electronic throttle controls, I believe, which is where I would start if you have one of those) Turbo or non-turbo (NA)? Possibly a vacuum hose failed (there are plenty)...any gas smells? Then, failing that... Does your throttle operate normally? Does the engine rev normally in park? Has anyone been doing anything under the hood just prior to this? Is there any obstruction to the tailpipe (including crushed)? Has it been operated off-road?

Check for codes even if you don't see a CEL, bulb may be out. Check for fuel leaks and massive vacuum leak.

1998, non-turbo, 176k
The roughness has become intermittent, gets worse when it's hot. This happens regardless of sitting at a light or parked and idling or at 65 on the hi way.
Not gas smells
No recent work under the hood,
No off-roading, (although that's a great idea if this keeps up)
Checked all the vacuume hoses that I could see, as best as I could
The CEL bulb checks ok when key is on, so bulb is ok
The exaust/muffler looks ok/normal with a visual check
Still no codes

Will change the plugs
