940 Headliner drooping - Not fabric issue

Post by macs70GLT »

I have searched through the forums & FAQ but have not seen a solution for this.

The fabric is attached to the headliner just fine. The entire backing board with the fabric is dropping down over the back seat. It's loose along the back & pulling out from the sides as well. I removed the trim piece from around the sunroof opening. It appears there was glue in lines as if from a tube - from the factory?? - holding the backing board to the car roof.

I may be able to put glue on a long stick & smear it up there then support the headliner with shower curtain extendable rods while the glue sets. I have not fully removed the headliner, still attached along the windshield.

Any ideas? Not sure what glue would hold up to the extreme heat of the metal roof in summer heat.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Silicone will hold it in the heat and will grasp the headliner but has to held until it cures.
