1996 Volvo 850 GLT odometer/tripometer

Hi....

Neither my odometer nor my tripometer (word?) on my 96 Volvo 850 GLT ( non-turbine) functions. This problem first arose several months ago but a lurking pothole jarred them operational. Both stopped working again last month. Absent plunging into another pothole, is there a quick fix here? The problem is not connected generally to an electrical malfunction that standard system checks might reveal. I just had one of those for another problem ( a fried ignition switch) and the fix fixed all but the odometer/tripometer. Any ideas?
