Glad I've got a spare tire...

Post by jblackburn »

Came back to my car to find this in my tire this afternoon.

I can't believe they make cars without spare tires now. I don't care if it saves weight; there ain't no way a can of fix a flat or tire pump is going to fix something like this.

Some tire punctures are way too big for Fix-a-Flat. Got one in Baja Mexico -- sharp stone. Tried the Fix-a-Flat anyway... it was dark and we were on a 70-mile dirt road. Why not? Didn't come close to working.

Spare. It was smaller and we didn't want to have to use it but we didn't want to camp at the side of the road and think it over either. We were in between MX 1 and Abre Ojos in a 1980 Toyota Landcruiser 2-door, bulletproof transportation. But thirsty, heavy, with all the comforts of cars from 1580.
