One noisy engine after 55MPH...
+1. Another way to isolate a wheel bearing noise (either as a roaring noise or a whap-whap-whap noise) is to find an empty 2 lane highway, get up to speed, and then swerve hard from left to right and see if the noise goes away a little bit. If you swerve left and it shuts up, the right bearing is bad and vice versa.

My guess would be a wheel bearing. Take it somewhere and let a mechanic drive it.
You may want to video the sound if you have a smart phone.

I could also hear the grind at 30mph this am, and feel vibs on left feet while it sat on rest pad. The vibs are not there on curves and turns. It leans right if i let go of steering.
After getting home, I jacked the driver's side and rocked the wheel at 12/6 position no change at y-axis, but ripping at 3/9 it rocks close to 1/4" on x-axis.
Repeated similar steps on passenger, both axis were firm at Jack. Supported the front on jack stand, removed both wheels, looked pass rotor, and back at each hub. I could see the teeth in hub assembly, but was unable to make visible assessment.
Repeated the axis test after wheels were torqued, and raising it back on scissor jack. It is the x-axis that rocks at driver's wheel.
Does it tell anything?

If you have no play when you vertically rock the wheel( 12/6) this means that there is no bearing play, but you can still have a noisy bearing which is worn.If you have a quarter of an inch of play laterally (3/9) it is most likely to be a balljoint (either the steering track rod end joint or the control arm bottom joint. When you rock the wheellook for movement in these areas,or get a lovely assistant to rock the wheel. If you drive slowly around in circles and you hear a click click, then this would be a worn outer CV joint and these can make grinding or roaring noises. Hope that helps

The front of the car is up on jack-stand for this weekend.
It took notice of following today.
- each sway bar end links' rubber boots are torn and flat
- each control arm's rubber boot at hub assembly is completely worn out
- tie rod end is TRW, flat where it bolts
- looking up the strut and coil is overwhelming, spring mount - black rubber looks strange
- outer edges of tire are rounder compared to inner edges
- it is running 309 miles in 15 gallons in urban traffic
- noise associated with wheel bearing, cv joint, axle, etc. is louder at 30mph and above - flying with red baron
- decelerating from higher to 30 tickles in your belly, in addition to noise of red baron flying passed
- rear shocks makes crackling sound when the car is raised from the jack rail at the frame bleow the driver's side (imagine a heavy iron door open/close in a medieval prison)

There is no more noise of any kind since replacing the two front hub assembly and rebuild Raxle axles.xHeart wrote: - noise associated with wheel bearing, cv joint, axle, etc. is louder at 30mph and above - flying with red baron

All new suspension parts.
It is quiet, and a joyful ride each time.
Thank you for helping.
