That's a base model.
Take it out for a drive. Get on the gas and brakes hard, feel for any pulling around on the road. Pull the dipstick out at idle and check for smoke puffing out of the opening. Listen for any odd clunks or harsh shifts. Crawl underneath and look for oil leaks.
Any work that needs to be done can serve as a negotiating point for the price.

According to those pictures...if you ask me....it would be more like 1 570 000 km on it....judging from the way it looks and in what condition the leather is.
So....interior -very bad.Exterior-bad.Paint is bad...Tyres are so bad and bold......
Interior can give you a pretty good picture of how many miles the car have.
The way it looks....i would try to find something else.Even if it's a super cheap i would consider it very deeply.
Of course...that's just my opinion.

That's a 10 valve version; notice how it has no MAF, just a connector and has DOHC on the valve cover. The engine series will be B5252S. These are common in the UK, Canada and Australia. They have slightly different timing belts, usually a 144 tooth 23mm belt and have a different PCV bottle. Water pump, hydraulic tensioner and idler are shared with the 20 valve versions. UK eBay seller Parts Monster and another seller in the UK called shirley something (can't recall now) have all the gasket sets for the top end.
The engine management is called Fenix made by Siemens and is usually pretty reliable. They have only 106KW (not the 125KW of the 20 valve versions) so the manual will be useful to stir it along. We currently own a 10 valve sedan and have owned a 10 valve wagon in the past.
Good luck with the purchase!!

Thanks guys, so this model does not have the dreaded electronic throttle? This car used to be the chilean ambassador's car before the more recent owners purchased it. It seems the chilean embassy took care of it from the 2010 pics in the second link however i cant say that much about the more recent owners.

The next model year, '99 had the ETM. This one has a throttle cable. See if you can find out if the RMS (rear main seal) isn't leaking and whether the clutch has had recent replacement.

This should help:

The difference on a front wheel drive is the labour as transmission takes around 6-8 hrs to remove and replace
