Engine bolts w/ springs attached, location?

Am just reassembling '96 850 Turbo wagon, following repair of stuck exhaust valve. Have two bolts which have conical springs attached, have no memory of where they might have come from on the engine. Anyone know?

Which one? The shield which is vertical & against the head uses 4 bolts to attach. The rounded shield which attaches to 1st shield uses 2. Thanks!

The springed bolts attach the vertical shield, in the two holes closest to the passenger fender. Longer spring in the lower hole.

The wide one. It has 4 bolts, 2 of them have springs.

Which one goes on top. the smaller spring or the larger spring?

I put the larger one on top and the smaller one below it, where the two parts of the heat shield join. That is at least how VIDA showed it for the '99.

I just did an engine swap and I was very careful about these bolts because this was my first run with turbo engines. On both engines, the longer bolt was on the bottom when I got it. So that's how they are in my car currently, opposite of what Lee said.

Maybe it doesn't matter that much? I'm not sure what the springs are for, I assumed it had something to do with letting things expand when they get hot.

My bad, I went back and looked at the VIDA picture and Erikv11 is correct. Small one on top and larger one on the bottom.
