2007 V70 2.5T Misfire
2007 V70 2.5T Misfire
Hello everyone, glad to be here. I just purchased a 2007 V70 2.5T in immaculate shape and we love it... except the rough idle. I knew something was off before I purchased it but I believed it wasn't serious, plugs or a coil pack, no problem. Anyway, She's thrown a P0303 code several times, so I started with new plugs, immediately idled smoother, for about 20 minutes down the highway, then sounded rough again. Okay, switched coil pack #3 to #1, erased codes again, light on again P0303, no manual, anybody know where I can buy one? What can I check out next? There are no other misses in the engine at speed, not noticable or audible anyway.
Well I seem to have cured the misfire, by changing the NGK plugs I had just put in and installed factory plugs and while I was at it inspected the wiring to #3 coil pack connector. I found 2 bare wires side by side under the loom, Ive repaired those and havent seen the misfire code for a 1000 km. I believe that did it, and I put in the Volvo plugs for peace of mind, I just dont know if others will last or not. Hopefully this will help someone else someday.
Glad you found your mis-fire. I had a similar issue witha similar result. Keep in mind for any vehicle you may own, manufacturers are not in the spark plug business. The Volvo plugs are most likely Bosch. As long as you use the correct plug you won't have any issues. Make sure you never interchange any spark plug always look it up by application to save yourself any un needed issues. This goes for "any" sparkplug. Lawn mowers to race cars.
Thanks for the reply, now , I have another question. What is up with this weird fuel door locking system? Sometimes it doesnt relock when I drive away, so I have had to hit the open switch again and drive away to see if it locks next time. Usually it does, I wonder what is going on there and WHY Volvo would employ a complicated system as this?
