Picked this Volvo up for free!

Post by rpmiracle »

Hi, I'm Ryan, new to this site. Just wanted to introduce myself and show off this 1990 240 Dl that my parents wanted out of their sight! They told me it was a piece of crap and they didn't want to see it anymore. Well after sitting in the driveway since 1997, I didn't know what to think. Well, after a high-speed polish, new ECU, new tires, and new brake pads, this thing fired right up and drives like a dream. The only other things wrong with it are a rear main seal leak which will be simple to fix, and the odometer/trip meters aren't functional. This car has never been wrecked and has only 3 door dings throughout the entire car. I am thrilled to have this as a spare car!! It looks great. Well, talk to you guys later!

No this was the only one they had unfortunately! It only has 120,000 on the odometer. I took it on a 500 mile roundtrip just to see how she would hold up and not a single problem. I see you're from Knoxville, my dad's side of the family retired on a lake not far from there in Dandridge. Douglas Lake I believe.

Good Stuff. I loved my 240 GLT before getting my 850 Wago. Glad you replaced the ECU Time bomb on this year that was notoriuos for leaving people stranded.

Enjoy and get some IPD Sway Bars :)

Fill me in on those sway bars. I don't know much about that kinda stuff. I want to do the suspension up real nice with "relative" performance considering the car. Also would like to get some sharp looking wheels, front spoiler lip, rear spoiler (subtle like the small ones on BMW M5's), and some European style headlights and possibly tail lights. I just don't know what is quality, I don't want anything cheesy on this car!

I put IPD's on my car: http://www.ipdusa.com/

It made a big difference. Little pricey but keep an eye out for them used. Then I replaced all my springs and shocks. It was flat in the corners. For wheels the older GLT 5 Spokes are nice or any of the Turbo wheels off of a 7series.
