newbie introduction me charliefarlie

Post by charliefarlie »

Hello
just joined tonight , thought it might be an idea as have just purchased an old volvo 940 estate auto which drives exeedingly well only had 2 owners from new with just turned 82000 miles today in fact , i do like the older volvos just some thing about them very few cars have these days .
Have had several volvos over the years starting with the 140 series then onto the 240 s they were a dashed good vehicle only grumble about them was shocking static electricity think it was the seat fabric that caused it plus wearing man made fabrics with a percentage of nylon in them always got a belt either shutting the drivers door after use or getting back in didnt matter how you opened the door or closed it ( it bit you just the same) , also had the 740 for a while , and the 940 about 5 years ago liked it very much nice comfy motor ,but as you do you sell it and buy some thing else so am back to the volvos again reason being mainly comfort, ease of maintenance , and repairs , cheaper parts too .
Any thoughts on how to get a few more miles to the gallon its doing around 27 mpg seem to remember could normally get about 30 ish or more am not driving fast just normal around 50 ish on A roads .
Cheers Cf

Oops, meant to write "Is that a 4-cyl or 6?"

I know why you love your wagon: simplicity, space and durability :-).

Welcome charliefarlie. How is Piggy Malone? Now that has everyone on the other side of the pond wondering who that is!

Getting to Stage 0 should help the mpg but it also depends on traffic conditions and style of driving.
