s80 Control Arm Replacement HELP
s80 Control Arm Replacement HELP
I have a 2004 Volvo S80 T6 that just had a transmission replaced at 120,000 miles (I'm sure to no surprise to anyone). Now that I'm broke I noticed that my control arm bushings are bad. I've taken the control arm off and it didn't seem to be a problem. However when pulling the drive shaft out it seems like it has separated in the boot closest to the transmission (see photo). Do I need to be worried or will it go back into place when I get the new control arm on? Also I'm having a hard time getting the strut up high enough to put the new control arm on in AND it keeps rocking back in forth (I guess because of the sway bar). I thought I was following the VIDA instructions pretty well. I don't want to mess up anything that affects the transmission needless to say. Your help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Line the cv joint back up and push it back in should be fine. I always disconnected the sway bar link so i wouldn't have to fight it. light hammer action will help you securing the A arm to the sub frame. Then you'll need a big pry bar or a come-a-long to lower the A arm enough to get the ball joint in.
