'04 HID Headlight Replacement

My '04 S80 T6 comes stock with HID headlamps. Unlike the standard Halogen they seem to be almost impossible to remove and replace as instead of the nice friendly twist off cover found on the Halogens, it seems to have what looks like an oversized CPU cooler bolted to the back by a dozen or so virtually inaccessible Torx screws.

Am I missing the trick? If so, I'd be very thankful if you'd share it. If not does anyone have instructions on how to get that darned thing off?

A heads up on a cheap place to buy replacement bulbs would also be very valued as the only price I've been able to find at the local store is "lots" and I'm not sure what to look for online.
