I have a 2005 S40. My blower motor works, but I cannot get heated air, only cold.
I will start at the beginning:
I took my car to the dealer for a complimentary software update (I received an invitation in the mail) with the hope of getting my "check engine" light turned off, which has been on for years. The dealer performed the update and also replaced the oil filter housing and PVC hose, which were still under warranty. When the dealer was done with the work, I confirmed that the check engine light was not illuminated. The day after leaving the dealer, I discovered that I no longer had heated air coming from the climate control system. The blower motor works, but no heat. I took it back to the dealer that same day and they handed me an estimate of ~$3200.00 U.S. to replace the "air box" within the climate control unit.
Does anybody know if the work the dealer performed would have affected the HVAC system? I theorize that the blend doors, the blend door motor, the Climate Control Module, or the work the dealer performed (software and/or mechanical repair) is/are the culprit.
I'm at a loss.
HVAC Issue: S40: Blower Motor Works, But No Heated Air
The blender door motor went out on my 2000, however, yours may be different. As the computer controls the motor that controls the blender door, you may be onto something. A code for a faulty motor should be logged on the OBD computer. Have another dealer check that FIRST before some jamoke throws the whole box w/2 motors at the problem. The motors are replaceable w/o replaceing the whole box.
