Disabled Artist Seeks Assistance with Transmission on V70

I have a 1998 Volvo V70 AWD GLT turbo wagon with a dead transmission. I was driving her on the highway when the shift mode light (up arrow) started blinking and she would no longer go up in gear. I've had two mechanics look at her, and they reported the transmission was totaled, but the transmission fluid and the PNP switch seem okay. I bought this car with a grant last March to transport my artwork to project sites. I have earned my living from art for over 20 years, and need the vehicle to maintain employment. I am disabled, but I work very hard to be independent. Any assistance finding a solution to repairing this, including finding a good resource for a used or rebuilt transmission will be greatly appreciated. Also, any advice on what to look out for re. this issue would be very helpful. I live in Minneapolis, MN. Thank you for your help.

There are a couple of eBay sellers and independant parts suppliers for 2nd hand Volvo gear that may be able to help. One of them is Erie Volvo and the other is Toms Foreign Auto Parts.

By all means shop around and make sure you purchase from a seller with good feedback. The transmission series is AW-50-42LE and they don't vary a lot between years.

Do you have a trusted independant repair shop that can fit another trans?
