Engine Mounts Replacement

Post by netasp »

hi guys,
I need to replace all of my engine mounts for my 2004 XC90 2.5T AWD. I need your input as which way I should go, the dealer have quoted me the following (parts only) my independent shop will replace them:
From Volvo Dealer:
Front mount and rear mount are the same #23 &41 are $100.88 each
Right mount #15 $100.88
Torque rod #33 $61.90
And upper mount #9 $40.24
Total: $404 + $85 (Shipping )

And then I found RockAuto.com, they are not original volvo parts but cheaper.
REAR UPPER $42.79
Front & Rear $69.79
OEM Hydraulic; Front Left $69.79
OEM Hydraulic; Front Right $69.79
Total: $322.00 + 35 (shipping to Canada)

Any experience with RockAuto? are their parts any good?

Please let me know. Thanks

Rock Auto is a good company but, in your case, they are only as good as the parts they supply. The choices in the aftermarket world are fairly limited and I would want to know what brand names they will be shipping is before I placed the order. The hydraulic mounts in particular are a real pain to change and it is the sort of thing I only want to do once. If they are shipping Scan Tech, forget it. APA URO is a bit better but anything rubber from URO is suspect.

If you can post back the brands we can give you a better opinion.

Thanks Lee for your reply,
They are all DEA and here is what it says when I click on the Info icon:
DEA Products has been a trusted manufacturer of motor mounts in the aftermarket industry for over 30 years. DEA Products uses the highest quality of raw materials available, and thoroughly tests their products to ensure that you'll be installing a mount that will meet or exceed your original mount's specifications.

DEA subjects their product to a pull test. Testing the strength of the high quality steel and rubber combination ensures that customers will receive a product with the type of quality they've come to expect from DEA Products.

attached is the image for the shopping cart:

Let me know what you think. I've just read some issues with non-oem mounts that were causing a lot of vibrations in cold weather.

I'm not familiar with DEA. That doesn't necessarily mean that they are good or bad. I did poke around on the web and they are a real company based in New York but based on the number of employees they don't actually manufacture anything. It looks like stuff comes in one door, gets put in a box, and goes out the other door. Again, that isn't to say they are good or bad.

If you decide to go with them please post back any comments you have about how well they fit as well as any comments you have on the appearance of quality.

I've talked with some other guys regarding this issue and they all agreed on using OEM parts for internal engine parts just to eliminate any possible problems that might happen due to cold weather especially the hydraulic ones.

There is another website that I am looking into buying from which is: http://www.tascaparts.com
they claim to have OEM parts, I have to double check and see...

Tascaparts is Tasca Ford in Rhode Island, anything you buy from Tasca is indeed Blue Box OEM. They do have very good parts pricing but look out for freight charges.

I found these guys, they are highly recommended and have outstanding prices and seem OEM. I couldn't find any negative feedback. Let me know if you have heard of them:
