I just had a 98 v70 FWD trans put in to replace a bad AWD tranny. According to trans guide they use the same trans from 98 to 2000 v70 and v70xc. I also had the drive shaft replaced as they are apparently different. When I bought the car the rear drive had been removed and it operated fine for 2 years. The car drives fine with the FWD trans but now the following codes appeared along with the check engine light. I can't get it inspected with the check engine on !!!
CODE- p1618
CODE -p717
Any help to diagnose and eliminate these codes would be greatly appreciated. The mechanic reset the codes but within 1 mile they return.
Thanks in advance,

the 0717 is a input speed sensor circuit fault in the tranny iirc, and the 1618 is from a dirty connector/bad ecu communication, I think. Did any wires get damaged during the swap?

99-00 use different speed sensors. Same trans but the speed sensors would have to be swapped from the 99 trans to the 98 trans for the trans to work right and not have codes.
One sensor is top middle of gearbox with grey and light brown wires with grey connector. The other sensor is top side of gearbox inline with engine. The connector for this one is slide into the gearbox connector and requires the connector to be dismantled to exchange that one. Both sensors have one bolt holding them into gearbox.

Yep jimmy just steered me out of trouble on my '99 V70 last week. The wires on the connector leading to the second speed sensor are yellow: view this post:
