Hello all,
I recently did a job on my AC pipes and after this job, I had 3 codes appear. ECM 1100, 4020 and 9400. I found out they all referred to sensors I.e. brake pedal sensor, air intake and fuel pressure (MAP). I bought news parts and had the air intake sensor changed. I must also point out that the brake pedal sensor was changed a year ago with a new one. I cleared the codes and after rechecking, the air intake code was still there. The question is could this be an electrical issue and not the sensors and are these three sensors link in a way to particular fuse?
I suspect there is nothing wrong with the sensors but rather an issues with something else. The cruise control does not work any longer.
On another point any one know what ecm 530D means and how to deal with it.
Car is a 2000 volvo s80 2.9 with 141k on the clock.
Thanks in advance
Strange codes
284: ECM-530D Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) in another control module, B6294S
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates whether there are one or more emission related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the automatic transmission control module (TCM). Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-530D is stored if this control module requests that the engine management system lights the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)
Substitute value
none
Possible source
>>>>>one or more diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in automatic transmission control module (TCM). <<<<
Fault symptom
varies depending on which diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has been stored.

MAP sensor is not related to fuel pressure. Its Manifold Air Pressure.
I will try and look your codes up in VIDA tonight.

It is starting to sound like an electrical issue. I think you need to find out what other code is stored. Could be transmission, ABS/STC or who knows, so you need someone with scan it with VIDA to find out.

Thanks guys, I also believe I have an electrical issue. I scanned it with a PPC scanner and am getting communication with ABS module. Also the trans code was vehicle speed sensor, any one know where this is or part number?

You are responding to an 11-year old thread, started by a member in Ghana. Chances are they've moved on.

Hope they are OK. I did some gold mining work in Ghana; and know that "all OK" is not given as granted there.
I just did a good work with my V70 year 1999 last week with these same issues - solved the issue.
The only reason was a dirty ABS-plug, which needed contact cleaner to get it clean. After that all the warning lights (transmission and ECU disappeared). The reason was that the speed signal from left front ABS sensor showed some km/h lower speed than other ones did occasionally and lost signal occasionally; Transmission controlbox got information from the gearbox speed sensor, which was different speed. Transmission box informed ECU about that difference (it assumed that there was slipping inside the gearbox) - and ECU turned on the warning light for engine, as well.
The signal was lost at that ABS-plug connector only. So no costs to repair it. I just started to clean the connectors until all started to work.
The plastic cover under the engine was lost by the earlier owner somewhere in history and therefore the dirt was blowing around at engine bay causing this issue at ABS-plug connector. That is good to know, who ever has the same issue and will find this discussion - a Volvo owner even outside Ghana.
