89 740 auto od issues

I have an 89 740 automatic wagon that lost od. Replaced solenoid and cleaned relay. i do have actuation of the solenoid. Is there any other inhibit of engagement of od ? The old solenoid was definatly shot. Help !!!!! This moms car.

I am assuming you can hear the solenoid activating when it is attached to the gearbox. If that is the case there may be dirt in the oil-way to the solenoid which will stop the fluid passing through. One way to check the oil flow and clean out any possible dirt is to remove the solenoid, place a tray under the transmission, start the car and quickly shift the gear lever from P to 1 and back to P then quickly switch off the engine. This should only take a few seconds and should result in a flow of oil which should clear any blockages.
