Your cap nut looks nicely centered in the photo above. Any suggestion for mine, here is the photo.

I struggled a little when putting the lock nuts from the well up to fastened the mount. Little room for a fist, then dropped and misplaced one. it disappeard, an hour later found in the rear suspension's hollow cavity, couldn't have found it without the flashlight, it shinned in the dark then only I noticed it. Steering the telescope magnet was the only way, I rescued it.cn90 wrote:I am doing the REAR shock next weekend.
I am looking at the above video of broken shock mount by "Vince Janeczko" (member of this forum).
I just came up with an idea that I will try out next weekend:
- Undo the 18-mm nut (I will heat it first to make removal easier and not to break the welded stud).
- Use a pry bar or big screwdriver to pry the shock mount to create the same broken mount defect as the video.
- Pull the shock upward to remove.
- Now I have access to the bolt threads to apply grease, PB Blaster to the rusted bolt threads.
This way I don't have to crawl underneath to grease the bolt threads, with debris falling on my eyes, head!
