rspi, you saved my 850. It was the driver's side axle. It was about one inch out. A few taps and it's back, wheels acting normal. Now... why was it out? Hmm. To be continued.

No circlip is causing the inner axle to slip out. When I changed the axle a year ago, no circlip was on the OEM axle, none came with the reman axle, so none went back in. I thought that's the way this is... that the shortness of the axle just kept it in on this side, despite reading that both sides have them. You know how some years are odd for the way things are configured?
The longer passenger side uses that bearing cap instead of a circlip. This is the second instance I've read that this has happened. Really odd that it lasted a year. Glad it's easily fixed even if you need to buy a new axle, that is a lot easier than replacing the trans...
