Gamin GPS removal 2010 S80
Gamin GPS removal 2010 S80
A dash mounted Garmin GPS came with my 2010 S80. It was either a factory or dealer install. It is a folding fixture and flaps closed if and when you remove the GPS. The GPS is electrically connected at the base of the fixture and it is connected to the cars electrical system. Problem is I can't figure out how to get the GPS off the bracket as most of the time I won't want it sitting there begging for a thief to break a window to get it. There is a sliding tab on the back but this does not release it from the mount. Anyone have one of these, and know how to get it free of the mount?

The folded up piece the nav unit is attached to has a release on the back of it. If you look you will see the piece (bracket?). It is very easily released if you put your thumb on the bracket and then use your index finger to lift the release on the back of the bracket. The nav unit will fall off.
If you fold the back bracket down that same release will be what lets it unlatch to fold back up from stored flat position.
