Post by Fat basser »

I just bought my son a 91 740 Turbo and we are getting the Check Engine Code 2.3.2 which is Adaptive Fuel Trim too Lean or Too Rich at Idling.

Can anyone tyell me what this means??? The car will start but has no power when I set on the gas.

Thanks

It means the computer is trying to trim the fuel based on the o2 sensor readings and it is unable to bring it into line. There are many possible causes such as faulty injector, bad o2 sensor, vacuum leak, fuel pressure regulator bad, etc. If you put a digital voltmeter on the sensor wire for the o2 sensor it should vary from .1v to .9v and should not be sluggish. Maybe this will give you an idea. Did it just start running bad? Alternately suck and blow on the hose to the fuel pressure regulator and you should see the pressue vary too if it is stuck or too high replace regulator,

The car just started sputtering. I tok it to my local mechanic and he cleaned the Air Flow Sensor and some of the otehr componets which did the trick. The Check Engine light went off and the car is runing fine now.

Thanks for your help.
