Lambda sensor light on

Post by fuel »

Hey guys the other day my Lambda/O2 sensor light came on and didn't go off. I thought it would have been a faulty O2 sensor so jacked the car up and looked and the only one single O2 sensor it has (pre cat) looks to have been replaced very recently. I checked the connectors above the transmission and there is indeed only one plug for a single O2 sensor whereas all the other references for O2 sensor replacement seem to show two separate sensors (pre and post cat converter).

I wish to just reset the ECU without pulling the battery terminals because I don't have the code for the factory radio. I looked in the engine compartment fuse box but couldn't see a fuse labelled ECU, but did see one for the ABS.

The car is a 1998 S70 T5 with the 2.0L engine.

Thanks!

All because the sensor looks good and newish doesn't mean it's any good. You should be able to get the radio code from the local dealer if you have one.

It literally looks brand new with no corrosion around the threads etc. I don't think I would be able to get a radio code from the dealer because the car wasn't originally sold in Australia (came from Singapore).

ease the radio out without disconnecting it and check on top for a hand written 4 numbers. You might get lucky.

The lambda light is not necessarily an oxygen sensor light. It is analogous to the Check Engine light and it covers a broad range of engine performance and emissions problems. Some of the OBD-I 240s had Lambda lights but the OBD-II requirements for the USA require that the light say "Check Engine".
