My driver's door got hit and I'm currently looking for a replacement door and front fender. It looks somewhat straight forward to swap the doors from a donor car but I can't figure out how to access the bolts for the top hinge on the front door. It seems you need to pull the dash out. If anyone has any tips it would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if someone could confirm that a door from any 900 series car (960,940,v90) will swap over that would be great. My car is a 1997 v90.
And... bonus points if anyone knows of a straight door in dark purple in the SF Bay Area.

There is an E torx screw on the hynge. Once the E torx is removed the door simply lifts off the lower and upper posts. No need to remove hynges at all.

Unfortunately the door hinges got bent in the collision so I need to swap a new set in.
I was wondering what the little torx bolt was for, thanks for the info on that.

The door from a 960 from 1995 on should fit but the listing gives a large number of different chassis numbers so I have put these on an attachment:
Good luck sorting that out.

Thanks for the info. I can't quite figure out how to interpret that PDF, but it sounds like I should look for 1995 on. I was assuming a 940 door would work too (they seem to be a lot more common at the wreckers) and I could just transfer the trim over.

I don't believe that the 940 doors will fit. Volvo only changed the shape with the '95 plus 960 cars. Pre-'95 960 and all 940 are the same

The 940 doors definitely do not fit. In the US the 940 was phased out in 1995. The 960 body had some modifications in the same year and one of the changes was the doors. In the UK we kept the 940 until 1998 but they did not receive the same modifications as the 960.

Update- I got a replacement door from a 95+ 960 and also some hinges from the same side rear door. I pulled the old door off but I still can't figure out how to get to the bolts that hold the upper hinge to the body. Some guy I ran into at the wreckers told me I should be able to get at it without removing the dash but it seems unlikely. Before I start pulling the entire car apart, does anyone know the best way to get at this?
