95 850T running rough

Post by chris_s »

Finally ready to drive my 95 850 after having it for 4 years waiting to get the title! Ran good until about 6 monthe ago when it started running rough (black smoke at idle , chugging, etc.) No check engine light. Checked all the stupid stuff, ie: new fuel, new plugs, checked cap, rotor, wires, all vacuum hoses, electrical connections everything I could see or think of. Thought I found it when I checked the waste gate for operation, it was frozen place. That was just the rod rusted to the gate arm. Freed it up and moves freely now. I am fairly mechanically inclined and am a manger at a body shop, so I am not a dummy working on my car. So....... Any ideas on something else I could look at to see whats wrong?. It has been sitting for a long time. Thanks in advance for any help.

Chris

Unplug the mass airflow sensor entirely and see if it runs better. Sounds like an air/fuel metering problem, which USUALLY points to the MAF as being bad, or a blown off turbo to intercooler hose along the way.
