idle problems '86 240

My 240 starts but won't idle at all. If I disconnect the air intake from the throttle it will idle but dies if I open the throttle at all. I can't find a vacuum leak anywhere. I suspect the Air Mass Meter because it fails the resistance check described in the manual (2.5 ohm reading vs. 3.5-4 given as acceptable). I'm skeptical though, because I'm not sure the symtoms would suggest a faulty AMM. Any ideas?

It appears it was the air mass meter.
