Dash Paint

Post by mcnaught82 »

I have a 2003 S60 AWD. Im gonna install the double din stereo but the dash kit is black and my dash is grey. Does anybody know the actual name for the grey on my dash? I want to paint the dash kit so it will match the rest of my dash.

So far as I now there is no "named" color for any of the plastic interior parts. The interior panels and trim pieces that were subject to change have a unique trim code number on the product plate but the center console items are stock and transcend all of the interior code numbers.

I think the best you can hope to do is get a color scan of an existing console piece and have the color custom matched. The finish will never be the same though. I had a trim piece that went around the head unit but I got tired of looking at it take up space several months ago and threw it away. The color on the faceplate of the radio should be the same so you could take the head unit itself in to get the match made.

If you want to get it perfect you need a professional.

Call Kevin (owner) at http://www.advleather.com and see if he can help. He custom matches all of my leather but I use his paints on steering wheels etc .

You can stop in to a local dealership if you know one and ask who does the interior touch ups. They custom match on the spot.
I think Kevin is the best I have found so I deal only with him.

You can also (if it won't be touched to much) take it to the local paint supplier and have him match it.
