do you guys all drive automatics
I just picked up a manual 1998 s70 this past weekend. First volvo.
I'm really excited to have the car, but I've already got an issue with noise coming from the transmission. I took the car to my mechanic this morning and they said it sounds like a bearing in the the transmission has gone bad. If this model is rare, will it make it that much harder or more expensive to replace this part?

Quebec here, in a 97 turbo 855 with a stick. I would not trade it.

I noted from your signature that you just retired your 87 240... and I just retired my 88 740 also. It seems Volvo is right on when they say a Volvo lasts on average 18.6 years... this average helped in part with the single case of the 40 year old Volvo P1800.CarVolvo wrote:Usually when you see the for sale advertisements for Volvo in Canada and the US you will often see "Rare 5 Speed". I have seen a few, but the majority are automatics... i guess because the manufacturer targets North American Cars to the luxury owner.

Most of the V70 R's that I spy by me are Manuals

Got a manual transmission.
But generally I wouldn't mind driving automatic.

I typically drive manuals but my V70 T-5 is auto. Auto is great for doing everything other then driving, ie. eating, change CD's, drinking coffee, and talking on the cell phone.
