Hello All,
On my 2000 volvo S80, the blower will only selectively turn on. Sometimes when I start the car, the fan will turn on and sometimes it wont. While driving it will also randomly turn on or decide to work. However, even when the blower is not working, I can feel heat radiating through the vents. I did some research and found that it may be the Blower Motor Resistor that needs to be replaced. I removed the blower motor and tested the resistor. 11.3v going in and 11.3v going out, indicating that the Resistor is not working, correct?
Additionally, the fan makes a noise as if it is hitting something when it is running, a sort of light "purr". Does this mean I need to replace both the blower motor and the blower motor resistor? I ordered both.
Also, I stripped a couple of the torx screws (I believe T25) when removing the blower motor. Does anyone have an idea as to where I can either find a parts diagram for these screws or where I can order new screws?
Thanks,
Addison

Welcome aboard, Addison!I removed the blower motor and tested the resistor.
How did you test the resistor? Is it not controlled by the ECC (or MCC unit)? There were 2 different types: a passive resistive regulator and an electronic SSD one (which is commonly called a resistor also) and on newer MY the SSD superseded the resistive type.
Which one of the two do you have?
The BM bearings usually wear out and start making those squirrel noises then the motor may completely seize soon after and take the resistor out.
(But I guess this theory is now irrelevant since you will be replacing both motor and resistor
Let me see what VIDA says about the torx screws and I will post again soon.
Thanks

Sorry, for some reason I do not seem to find the HVAC Blower arrangement in VIDA
I can't believe my VIDA has aged that much in less than a year
Does anyone here remember where that rascal is (hidden)?
Thanks in advance!
