Trade my SC-901 for your mint SC-816

Post by eld4au6 »

I bought a sc-901 a while back and have recently purchased another 850R and I would like to get another sc-816 for it.

The SC-901 is the top of the line radio for your 850/s70/v70/c70. Will only work if you have a factory amp. The unit works properly and is in good used condition (cd player only likes purchased cds as most do). I would like for the trade sc-816 to be in perfect shape.

I believe that's an 815 (black face) the 816 is the lighter grey face 98-2000.
Makes no sense, the 901 sounds infinitely better.
I've had both with both hooked up to the external amp... no contest

I am actually more of a fan of the sound the sc-816 produces. I have a sc-816 in my 96 R and its black and has Premium Sound System written on it as the sc-815 does.

I disagree
Do either of you know about the hidden equilizer on the 901 and to put it the correct sound mod?
I've had them all and a properly adjusted 901 will blow away an 816

Yes, I know about the hidden eq as well as the preset eq's. The biggest gripe I have about the 901 is the lack of the ability to hack the tape player for a AUX. Maybe I just prefer the 90s styling of the 816s.

Does the 901 have an aux CD input though, like for the CD changer on the 815/816?

If so, and If the standard 850 amp and harness links up to the 901, I am interested.

Correct. I have the ipod adapter(through cd plug) in my first R but on the second one I don't wanna spend the money for another adaptor. This unit will take the standard 850 amp if you have the external style. The other sc-xxx units have a built in amp as well as plugs for external amps. 900 and 901 do not have internal amps.

So do I interpret this as "No, the 901 does not have an Aux input?" I use a Blitz iPod adapter in one of may cars, that is where that question was going. But I don't have one in the other car so would still be interested, just want to know what I'm getting.

Maybe this would make it all more clear for me: What plugs does the 901 have on the back?

Thanks.

Also, don't your Rs have factory amps?

Yes to the CD-6 plug on a 900-901
Yes to the 850R amp
It's behind the radio, it's decent with plenty of power and can be used with a 901 like the underseat amp does.
SC 816s in an 850R have the other external amp mounted up and behind the radio and it certainly does help, but it's STILL nowhere as nice a system as a 901.
I've had both/all of these systems
