Hi, I had a bizzare sort of problem which lasted very briefly:
Primary Fault: Right turn signal lights front and rear stay on all the time (no flashing; they remain on even with ignition off)
Other indications: hazard winkers appear to work, but only the left side flashes. High-Beam dip works too and all other "light functions" appear normal.
Remedy: I could get the errant lights to extinguish by hitting the RH side of the dashboard (a la Fonzie).
Result: Thinking I was being clever, I pulled the fuse for the hazard relay and left it out for five minutes to see if it would have any effect. The effect was not the desired one as I replaced the fuse amd found that none of the previous "Other indications" above worked anymore, but "luckily" the primary fault was also gone.
I guess the lesson to be learned here is "be careful what you ask for because you just might get it..."
OK, now more to the point: I have got a replacement relay but I cannot locate the duff one... I have pulled the dash top after some misguided searches and looked behind the instrument cluster; it is not present in the relay pod above the pedals; nor near the main fuse box under the hood. Where have the sneaky Sweedes put the bloody thing? Please help!
This is the thing I am trying to locate in my 1995 850 wagon:

I know it's been years but for the next person looking for the location it's inside the car under the fuse panel.

The relay you have pictured is located under the fuse box cover, there are four T-25 Torx head screws to get to it. That relay, however, doesn't deal with the turn signals or hazard lights, only the headlights. Your problem sounds more like a wiring problem under the dash. I think I would start by unplugging the hazard light switch and see what happens. That will help you determine which side of the switch the problem is on.
I would post schematics but due to a spat with Volvo legal I, as a moderator, cannot post them. Any other person who is not a moderator with access to the schematics can post them, just not me.
Wiring problems are a pain to locate but they are usually easily fixed. Wiring problems usually arise after an aftermarket accessory is installed such as a remote starter / alarm system or even an aftermarket stereo. Looking for obvious signs of butchery there will often help you locate the problem.
