hello guys,
i recently purchased an O2 sensor from amazon by an advice from someone in this forum but my mechanic friend who works at the volvo dealer called me and said that this part is incorrect.
when you enter the model, year and everything else on amazon, it does say that it fits but it doesn't.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BZ ... oh_product
This product fits your 1999 Volvo V70
* Engine: 2.4L L5 Gas DOHC Distributorless Turbocharged Bosch Motronic Electronic FI MFI
* Notes: EXC TURBO - OE TYPE BEFORE CATALYST
Now I am going to have to buy it from somewhere else, maybe fcp and it is freaking expensive, 192 dollars.
Does anyone know another place that has it cheaper?
part number 9470983
Thank you.
is this the front O2 sensor? see pics (99 V70 XC AWD)

my 98 s70 have the same problem
when i scaned it, my scaner shows two sensors with one is o2s11 and the other one o2s12 the first one with 11 works fine but the other one shows 0.00 volts which is i guess the faulty one. but i dont know which one is the rear and which one is the front
can you please help me

What if you unplug the front one then scan again?
BTW, if you think of buying Bosch sensor you might want to read this first (especially Wrenchinjoe's post);

I tried to unplug, but its very tight, so I decide not to take it out unless i know exact one.
I already bought the sensor since I am very sure one of mine is faulty and the other one perform well
My snap on scaner shows exact voltage reading.
I am guessin O2s11 might be the front and the O2s12 the rear
how is it sounds?

When you step on gas, the voltage of O2s11 changes? My understanding is that the rear one is to provide the "reference" so more static as the front one is more dynamic.

I figured out the two sensors
o2s11 is the front sensor which freez the voltage reading when i pluged out
o2s12 is the rear oxygen sensor
But when i exchange the two connecters, still my o2s11 works which is sure my rear sensor also good, which means i have rear oxygen sensor circuit problem. am I right?
so do you guys know the possible problems in the circuit?

O2S11 : Stands for O2 Sensor, Bank 1, Sensor 1 (Front)
O2S12: Stands for O2 Sensor, Bank 1, Sensor 2 (Rear)
The first # is the Bank (on a V Motor (6,8,10,12) you'd have two banks and a lot of times 4 sensors, thus why they break it down this way.
The Front Sensor is what tells the computer how rich/lean the exhaust is so that it can adjust fuel trims accordingly.
The Rear Sensor is what tells the computer if the catalytic converter is functioning properly (emissions status).
Are your LTFT and STFT reading high (+/- 6 or more)?
You should be able to read that with the scanner as well.

I realize this post is a little dated but, maybe my experience can help someone else... My 99 v70 xc 's engine light came on the other day. I went straight to AutoZone to have the code read and they said either the front o2 sensor or the catalitic converter. I read on here that someone fixed theirs by creating a lean mix by removing a vaccuum hose for a few minutes. The lean mix burned hot and burned off the buildup on the o2; engine light went off. Rather then messing with hoses I decided I'd try running some high octane fuel. I filled my tank with premium feul and added an octain booster/cleaner. 40 miles later the engine light went off and no problems since. That $10 bottle of octane booster saved me (potentially) hundreds of dollars!
