1998 s70 with a 2.5t questions (with pictures)

Post by nickity »

Hello! I recently purchased a 1998 s70 2.5t. It was originally purchased in Sweden by someone in the U.S. military, who then flew it back to the states (where I live). I have done some research and I can not find any information about an s70 with a 2.5t that was made available for the U.S. in '98. Some people at a Volvo shop told me that it is very rare and valuable. Does anyone have any information on this vehicle?

It's still a 2435cc engine regardless of whether the badge says 2.4 or 2.5 They were simply badge changes between different markets.

The true 2.5s at 2521cc weren't in use until a 3mm stroke increase occurred for the 2003 model year. By then they had numerous engineering changes and advancements including new heads and oil squirted cooling for the pistons.

The European market was generally one model year ahead of the North American cars. Do you have an electronic throttle module or a standard throttle body?

Buying parts could be interesting.

One photo of the engine bay will confirm if it's a year ahead or when ignition is turned on one of the lights says ETS

here are a few shots of the engine bay. I really just want to know how valuable/rare this car is here in the states since it was imported from Sweden.

That's a standard pre '99 engine bay with no ETM so count your blessings.

BTW they were also known as 2.5s in the UK market
