This poor 850 Reverse all the way home.

Post by zachlandreth89 »

I was driving my 96 850 automatic turbo yesterday and started to hear a slight grinding noise in first but would go away after the car shifted to second. i stop the car to see if something was caught under it, looked under the hood nothing, started the car back up went to drive and there was a horrible grinding noise put the car in park then back to drive pressed the pedal and the car jump like a Manuel car stalling with some grinding along with it. i put the car back into park to see if my transmission was on the ground but everything looked fine no fluid leak no metal shavings. put the car back into drive and nothing car acts like its engages in all gears but the only gear that the car will move in is reveres. any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. car has 150k original trans, never been flushed i did swap the trans fluid 5k miles ago with the 2 in 2 out method.

Not being intimate with the internals of these transmissions but the symptoms are very suggestive of what in a rear wheel drive car would be a broken band,
