V40 Diesel Engine Is Renault Laguna Engine?

HI folks!
I'm the new owner of volvo v40-d(2000year).
In my country there is no volvo dealer and we also dont have spare parts for volvo cars.
Engine in my volvo v40 is diesel 1.9d(common rail).Is it true that this is actually Renault laguna engine?And gear box?
Im asking this question because i will some day search for spare parts and we dont have here much for volvo but we have everything for renault.

Neither my local Volvo nor Renault dealers will answer the question so I am trying another source, but it may take a few days.

Unfortunately when Ford took over Volvo they stopped using the European engine that Renault, Citroen and others were using.

Your vehicle will be fitted with a Volvo engine.

I think that ford took over volvo in 2001.My car is 2000 year.

The Volvo company was sold to Ford on 8th March 1999.

After more research my informant tells me that the Volvo diesel engine was produced for the 2001 model year of the S/V40, so would be fitted to cars coming out August 2000 and later.

If yours is earlier than that, that is a 1999 or 2000 model year car, it should have the European engine.

Than i have renault engine.I think it's the same as in Renault laguna.Now it's easy to calculate what to do in case of malfunction.
