Testing a Climate Control Module?

Anybody know how to check to see if the ac switch on the panel is doing it's thing? Lights work, but not turning on the compressor. I can jumper the relay under the hood and the compressor kicks on. Also, heated seats and rear defrost do not appear to work. SRS urgent service message appears on the information display. Starting to think one or more of these issues is related. Thanks for any help in advance!

Did you unplug the panel without disconnecting the battery?

To reset the SRS message you'll need a scanner or a Vida/ Dice setup. Next you need to tell exactly what CCM codes are appearing. If the SRS code is unrelated you have two separate issues to deal with.

Get back to me with an answer and we can move from there. The a/c system may simply be low on gas. Was the compressor kicking in prior to the other problems on the panel?

I apologize for not getting right back to you, I'm active duty Navy and have been busy for the past week and a half. To answer your question - I bought the car like this so I don't know if the proper procedure was followed when disconnecting the CCM. I've worked on cars all my life and I would have never guessed this would happen but as they say - you learn something new everyday. Anyway - so what's the most cost-effective method to move forward on this? I don't mind spending a little money on a scanner that will work on more than volvo SRS and ABS; but isn't the VIDA/Dice a bit less expensive? I read that there's some issues with what version of windows you are using. I appreciate the help as I have never really fooled around with this version of Volvo before so i am learning alot of new things. I'm still in the same spot I was a week ago; this is a third car for me so I haven't been driving it. Thanks again! (PS - I turned on my notification when a response is posted

The scanner of choice to clear SRS messages is an Autel EU-702. The Vida/Dice will work on Win 7 if it's a later version such as 2010 and over. You can use a virtual setup rather than install and I'll link you to the files if needed. When disconnecting a climate panel's signal cables the battery MUST be disconnected and stay this way until the panel is reconnected to avoid tripping the SRS message.

Awesome - I'll look in to each of those. Would be a bonus for me if the Autel piece works on other vehicles as well. I have a few cars and the volvo is just one of them. I did read about the battery disconnection before removal however the srs message was already lit. At least I didn't do it!

The Autel can be reloaded with domestic US and Japanese car files very easily by downloading them from the supplied CD or the internet.

The Vida/Dice setup is more for the serious faultfinder. It's better suited for individual component testing and simulation type testing. Definitely a must have for any Volvo owner for cars newer than '98.

The best compromise may be the Autel unit and just to run the virtual (free) Vida software to gain extra information

You mean the Vida stuff I see on eBay? Autel is independent of Vida - correct? I am definitely capable of utilizing advanced tools such as Vida and besides, in some cases it is essential to troubleshooting - right? Thanks mate!

Vida is software designed by Volvo and designed for use either with the VDA2000 diagnostic tool or the Dice diagnostic tool.

Autel is an independant company which produces an entire range of scanners. Most can be used in a standalone way or with their own software loaded on the laptop.

Thank you for the thought. Is it just me, or is the last diagram the only one that you can increase in size? Are you able to make out the CCM diagram? Thanks!!
