Good Evening,
Before getting started with the issue at hand wanted to elaborate on this project... My 2004 C70 has 103k miles so decided to do a fairly significant maintenence project.
1. Replace front brake discs with slotted and drilled (completed)
2. Front brake pads (completed)
3. Flushed brake fluid (Completed)
4. Spark Plugs (Completed)
5. Flushed cooling system... it's now clean and empty will fill with antifreeze when timing belt job is complted.
6. New coolent hose at bottom of reservior (completed)
7. Flushed power steering fluid ( drain and fill until it was green with new Pentosin)
6. Serpentine belt and tensioner (Not completed)
7. Timing belt, Water Pump, Idler Pulley and tensioner (Partially complete)
8. Flush transmission fluid (Will do last)
I decided to order a cam locking device from Canada (see photo) received today and was not disappointed... worked great... After locking down the cams... I removed all the components and noticed the tensioners were different... (see photo) The tensioner on the right came off the car... the one on the left came in the genuine Volvo kit from FCP... The saga continues... I decided to try the new tensioner (even though it didn't look as robust as the original). The block did have a rib sticking out that would hold the new tensioner in place so I mounted it... loosly... Next I wanted to to the adjustment... the eccentric was at about 10:00.. I inserted the allen wrench and turned clickwise... nothing happened the spring loaded marker didn't move at all... Pulled it off and can't figure our if I did something wrong or if the tensioner is defecive... haveany of you had this problem? Anyway have contacted FCP to see about getting it replaced with the correct tensioiner...
Last, had a devil of a time findiing the timing mark on the crank... hiding in plain sight when you finally know where look... see photo... I did mark the valley with a white line... the timing marks are at the end of the two splines on either side of the white mark by the block... also you will not a small bump on the plastic thing right on the inside of the harminic balancer...
Thanks

There are 3 different tensioners from 04-05, you need to order by VIN to get the correct one.
DO NOT try to install the one you got there.
