My 1994 940 Wagon, non-turbo, has 258K miles. There is a rubbing sound that comes from the drivetrain when I am accelerating or going up hill. It becomes more pronounced when I have the back-jump seats up.
I've already replaced the u-joints and center bearing on the driveshaft. It may be a little quieter, but it is still there.
It sounds like it's coming from the rear-end. Any ideas for what to check for next?

When those seats are down they become a very efficient sound deadening material. It becomes more pronounced when I have the back-jump seats up.
There are many possibilities to be considered in this type of noise - not all relating to the drive train.
The attached shows some of the things to be considered before tearing the drive train apart:

Differential fluid is also on my list. I just bought the car a few weeks ago, so....
I did use it to carry some teenagers from the church youth group last Friday. They all wanted to ride in the rear-racing pair of seats in back!

Kirby J nailed it. Motor/Transmission mount was shot. I replaced it today and it is a much more civilized-sounding little beastie. Still gonna do the differential fluid. (Oh, and the clicking noise referenced in another post was a bad center-bearing... the new one.... right outa the box. Not my happiest experience in parts-buying, but they took it back and exchanged it for a more durable brand.)
