G'day you mob, names Shane and Im from Australia

Just signed up on the forum as I'm looking to buy either an S40 or V40 in the next couple of months. Looking for something newer than 1999. Just thought I'd throw up the question here for you guys an potential common issues to look out for when buying and what the general reliability the S/V40's are.
Ideally I would like a manual transmission and the turbo 2L. Any info or links to previous threads or sites is most welcome

Thanks

Just thought I'd update my post. I now own a V40 - 2L-T auto. Its in fairly good condition and has been looked after, but theres a few things need doing. Has anyone got any recommendations for good repair manuals (volvo?, Hayes, Gregorys etc...)

Which year did you purchase? If over '99 better to get a Vida/Dice setup which has the dealer software including most disassembly procedures and allows clearing/reading of codes. You will need a laptop to use it.

Why not flick some pics up on this post of your new ride?

Place to buy is eBay. What part of Oz are you in?

V40 is better suitable to me than the S40 - I got kids so the extra room in the wagon is a good thing

Hi Shane.
Just browsing and saw your post re: your newly acquired V40.
Looks nice and tidy from the pic. Haven't ever seen a white one yet, personally here in NZ.
I myself have a 2002 V40 Nordic. Ex Japan now with 91,500kms 1948cc turbo with 5 speed auto. Colour Red. So far all been overall okay and enjoy driving her.
Hope you get good service and enjoyment with yours too. Regards. Peter

Looks good. I love my S40. 2002 model. But we only got the automatic tranny here in the USA. And we only got the choice of one engine the 1.9T. There are small problems to date in that the original owner took very good care of her. I bought a set of really nice wheels to set off the looks. And it looks real nice now. I am in the middle of a crisis dealing with dishonest mechanics in Miami Fl. They all seem to want to take you for a fool, and all your money. You will enjoy becoming a DIY kind of guy. My problem right now is a dirty sticky idle control valve and a bad coolant sensor. But fortunately both problems are very easy to get to and fix. I find that is the case with this car more often than not. And these are the only problems I have with her and have been driving this car for 5 years now.
