New driver's seat cover

Post by Darlingstrand »

My driver's seat has split along the outside seam and has become pretty
Bad! I got an estimate today for $500 to fix it and needs some new leather pieces
put in also. They do not have an exact match for color, as I have the interesting
orange interior. I cannot seem to find anything online but am wondering if it is possible
to buy a new cover from Volvo that is my exact color? I would rather purchase exactly what I already
have vs paying $500 for a repair that will look like it has obviously been repaired and
not matched. I called my local dealership and they said they do not do upholstery repairs.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I have an '05 s60.

Try Elwood Industries in Florida. Bob, the proprietor, is a Volvo enthusiast who does seat covers as a sideline to his main business. Each set is fabricated to order. He can probably work with you on custom colors. I replaced the driver's seat back and bottom on my V70 recently and Bob's kit was just under $500 and of very good quality. Search for my thread about the whole thing (with pictures) in the 1992-2000 forum.

His turnaround time was quite quick considering he hand fabricates to order.

I was very impressed by the quality of Bob's work and could not recommend him enthusiastically enough.

If still available, an Atacama seat cover will cost you in the neighborhood of $1200 EACH, top and bottom!!!
(Ask me how I know)

I saw an '04 S60 at one of the pick and pulls last week with surprisingly good looking seats.

They don't care if they're leather or powered, $45.00 ea. is what I paid for both front. The drivers seat being powered. Less than $100.00 for all the rear pieces.
I replaced all the seats with salvage. The original '93 Seats have an off color leather, so I found '95 and '96 to replace them. I even replaced the leather door inserts for free.
If you have a decent self-pull yard near you, you could get lucky.
