I just returned from a 3 months business trip. While away my dad started the car every two days to keep it in somewhat a good condition. One day the car won't start. When I returned home yesterday I used my sister car to jump started my car as the battery already been drained down from sitting for quite sometime. I can heard the start kicked in and out but nothing is happened. From what I can see that everything is looking normal. No warming message on the dasdboard. The fuel is 75% full, the oil look fine. I used the scanner and received no code. I've 2001 S80 2.9L (non turbo).
Should I look at the starter? Any advise is greatly appreciate.
Thank you.

You must not have had the booster cables hooked up properly, or not making a good connection

Thanks for the comment Japedo. From my perspective the booster cables was hooked up correctly as I saw spark when I made the connection from the booster cables to my car. I also used a multimeter to read voltage across the ends of the booster cable and it indicated a little over 12 VDC. I also noticed that my sister car increased in RPM when I tried to start my volvo with the booster cable connecting from her car to my car. I forgot to mention that the old battery was completed drain, but again I though that the purpose of the battery is to provide the initial cranking power to the crankshaft. So if I have a booster cables connecting to a running car then my car should be started regardless of whether my car have a battery or not? Am I right?
If I have time I'll experience this again with a bad battery and try to start the car with a booster cable connecting to another car.
