***Pictures to come - need to wash off green hue from pollen***
After much deliberating, I have decided it's time to move on and let my beloved white on black '96 855R wagon with M56 swap go. I have owned this car for almost 4 years. Purchased at 125,ish miles, car currently has 153,xxx and will continue to rise as it is my daily driver. Car was bone stock at the time of purchase. Everything works except cruise as it needs a new switch at the brake pedal. Low priority for me. Here is a list of repairs/updates:
Withing the past six months (less than 4k):
-replaced all cooling system hoses including heater hoses and union through firewall
-Timing belt, tensioner, idler, all cam seals and front crank seal
-IPD RIP kit (picked up 2nd hand as I needed to replace the boost hoses anyway)
-MSD ignition coil (picked up 2nd hand)
-ARD TCV
-KONI FSD Pro kit with Eibach sport springs, control arms, sway bar links, strut tops and bearings, etc.
-4 Continental DWS 205/45R17 on original Volans (couple wheels have minor bends, but balance out fine)
-Left front hub assy
-Left front axle
-all 3 motor mounts
-IPD poly dogbone trans mount
-Slave cylinder
-rubber brake lines and brake fluid flush
-full PCV rebuild
-Volvo OEM spark plugs & wires
Within the last 20k
-M56 swap out of a car with 90k (auto trans failed unexpectedly)
-Euro 850R cluch kit
-Radiator
-A/C condensor (A/C blows COLD)
-Behr heater core
-top end rebuild
-rear hatch stays
-IPD CBV
-ARD manual tune (basically a white tune, but mainly got the tune just to be manual trans complient)
-rear pads and rotors
-OEM R front spoiler replaced and painted with NEW spoiler due to cracks
-windshield (does have one small bullseye now, but no cracks)
I'm sure there's more. I have a white rear hatch spoiler that will come with the car, just needs mounting kit. Also, I just purchased 302mm front caliper brackets. Nothing else for upgrade purchased. The only things worth noting about the car is teh rear main seal has a slow leak. I replaced it when I did the trans swap, but it has seeped ever since. It was never worth dropping the trans again to me. I just clean it up on every oil change. Also, the right rear seatback release is a bit tricky to get to release, but again, no big deal to me. And, as mentioned before, the cruise is inop. I had it working after the trans swap, but the brake pedal switch went bad. Lastly, exhaust is stock, but the previous owner replaced the downpipe/cat with an aftermarket OEM style replacement. It is slightly SMALLER diameter than stock, and has a horrible 90 degree bend coming out of the turbo. I'm sure if you install a new exhaust, performance will increase substantially. I wasn't worried about it as honeslty I have been quite happy with the performance as is. I have only run Castrol Syntec 10w40 and Volvo factory oil filters every 3k.
Is the car perfect, absolutely not. But, it is significantly better than most vehicles almost 20 years old. The body does have a couple scratches on the left rear door and on the hood. Otherwise, NO dents and besides the front spoiler I replaced when I first got the car, 100% original paint. NO rust. This car has not bee abused durring my ownership. I know my price is above average. I feel it's worth it. If you don't, please keep it to yourself.
