Parking Brake Adjustment at MAX?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Parking Brake Adjustment at MAX?

Post by cbat »

I have adjusted the paring / emergency brake at the Console of my 2004 S80 but it is at the maximum and the car still moves. The rear linings and rotors are new and appear to be correctly installed. Does Volvo have another adjustment on the individual parking brake cables on each side? Could the cables have stretched that much?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same issue on my 02 S80

Shoes and disc's are new but will only hold in reverse!!

Stretched cable seems to be the problem.

Try putting a spacer below the nut on the adjuster, tighter the nut onto the spacer and this should pull the cables more and you should be able to get a good handbrake then.

But be aware they could snap

Where is the adjuster? The only one I can find is on the passenger's side bake shoe. If I tighten it anymore I can't get the rotor on. Is there another adjustment somewhere? I do not have one in the center console like this one: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 428#p26428
